Flytipping Enforcers Ltd ("we", "us") provides CCTV monitoring, deterrence and enforcement services to prevent fly-tipping on private land in the UK. 2. CCTV footage, the core of what we process
Our cameras record video (and capture vehicle registration marks) at monitored sites. Footage showing identifiable individuals or vehicles is personal data under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Purpose and lawful basis
We process CCTV footage for the prevention and detection of crime, specifically fly-tipping and associated waste offences, and for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims (including recovery of clearance costs). Our lawful basis is legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR): the legitimate interests of our clients in protecting their land, and the public interest in preventing environmental crime. Where footage is shared for prosecution, processing may also rely on legal obligation or tasks carried out in connection with legal proceedings.
Transparency and proportionality
Monitored sites carry prominent signage identifying that CCTV is in operation, the operator, and how to contact us. Cameras are sited following a data protection impact assessment to cover the client's land and its access points, minimising capture of neighbouring property and public space. We follow the principles of the Surveillance Camera Code of Practice as best practice for private operators.
Retention
Routine footage is retained for [31] days and then automatically deleted. Footage relating to a suspected offence is preserved for as long as necessary for investigation, enforcement action or legal proceedings, then deleted.
Sharing
Incident footage may be shared with: the affected landowner (our client); local authorities and the Environment Agency for enforcement; the police; our legal advisers; and courts or parties to proceedings where required. We do not publish footage on social media and do not sell personal data.
Security
Footage is transmitted and stored encrypted, with access restricted to trained monitoring staff and logged.
3. Enquiry and marketing data
When you submit an enquiry form or register interest in a package, we process the details you provide (name, contact details, site location, message) to respond to you and arrange assessments, lawful basis: steps taken at your request prior to a contract. Package 3 interest registrations are used only to email you about that package (consent), and you can unsubscribe at any time.
4. Your rights
You have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability under UK GDPR. This includes the right to request CCTV footage in which you appear (a subject access request); we respond within one month and may redact third parties.
