How the numbers stack up
The CLA puts the average clearance cost of a single farmland fly-tip at £1,000, and repeat targeting is the norm, with some landowners hit monthly. One bad incident (hazardous waste, large loads) can run to tens of thousands: one Hertfordshire farmer was recently quoted £40,000 to £50,000 for a single clearance. Set against that, a monitored deterrent that cut tipping by 95% across our first 30 sites* is not a security expense.
